The school is in a developing section of an isolated small town. The building is on one floor and was built with colored, prefabricated elements. Opened in 1990, the school has been expanded in various stages to handle an increase of students. The exposure of the place influenced the school's design, which has long wings that protect the playing areas. The classrooms and playgrounds for the younger students are separated from the areas for the older students. Each one has a separate entrance and play areas. The building forms a Y with three wings. The first is for younger students, up to 12 years. The second is for specialized instruction, and the third is for older students, from 13 to 16 year olds. These three wings meet in a central area that is also the main entrance; there is an atrium, multipurpose room, cafeteria and recreation room for older students. The classes are luminous and the corridors have very high ceilings. The prefabricated elements are made of chalk stone panels that guarantee good acoustic insulation and flexible construction. The central area has mobile walls in order to be able to use it for various school and community activities. The school is also a social and cultural center. In fact, the students, parents and teachers work together to produce two annual shows. . |
