This new professional training center for construction could hold 500 students. It was constructed by remodeling and expanding a preexisting building. Because practical exercise is important in a school like this, it was designed with an emphasis on connecting themes of health and safety. Some parts of the building were demolished because they were not up to environmental and safety standards. The parts that remained were expanded and reorganized. Particular attention was paid to the layout of areas. The laboratories, which require heavy equipment were located on the ground floor; classes that used lighter equipment like painting, decoration or wiring was placed on the upper floor. To insure flexibility, the laboratories on the ground floor are built above a crawl space in order to ease installation or deviation of wires and pipes. An atrium was placed between the remodeled part and the new construction to form a common area for students.
