The building should be protected from access or intrusion by unauthorized persons during school hours and at night. Moreover, the critical areas should be under surveillance at all times in order to discourage vandals and theft or it should be possible to call for help from the police or security force quickly if not automatically. It would be useful to unite the alarm system to an access ok system to reserved areas to reduce the number of devices to be installed.

The objectives of this equipment should be:

-monitor personnel or users who enter and exit the building with recognition devices like badges or fingerprints,

- activate the necessary services, lighting and heating, when users are present,

- verify and localize the presence of unauthorized personnel,

- quickly intervene with internal security services or automatically calling the police in case of unauthorized personnel,

- identify open windows or doors left open,

- limit energy consumption by regulating services as needed.

Technically, this system should be made up of a series of sensors, thermal and/or volumetric, camera with motion sensors, photocells and magnetic contact switches able to sense the presence or motion of people in all areas of the building. A single terminal will gather all the data and signal a problem.

The number of sensors that must be placed to completely cover the building is notable; therefore, it is indispensable to correctly engineer the system so the wiring is rational and minimal to reduce maintenance.
